Back to School, Again: Tailgates, Technology, and Times Past

Posted on 9/3/2015 by Dave Cavnar

This Friday, I’ll be returning to my alma mater, Western Michigan University, with some college buddies. We plan to engage in the age old tradition of tailgating prior to watching the football game between the Broncos and the Spartans of Michigan State University. I haven’t been back to Kalamazoo (yes, that is a real place) in years, and the prospect of returning to my old stomping grounds has gotten me thinking about all of the students who are currently moving into dorm rooms for the first time and the general bustle and energy that envelopes college towns all over the United States this time of year.

What Ignites Your Flame? Combining Personal Passions and Technology

Posted on 8/11/2015 by Dave Cavnar

I am going to be honest with you: it's difficult for me to get that excited about new technology. I recognize that at today’s technological pace, brand new generations of a device or product will inevitably pop up within a month of any purchase I make. Fizzle! Bang!

So when I first started toying with the idea for this post, I hadn’t intended to have it sound so morbid. However, now that the title has been typed up, I think I might keep it. I’m not sure why, but something about it makes me think of Dexter, the Showtime series about a serial killer who only targets people who are themselves dangerous murderers. As I run to keep up with my derailed train of thought, I realize it is related to something that I’ve always been passionate about.

We can all agree that online business is not going anywhere. It is growing every day, becoming more accessible and allowing for more people to make more connections than ever at an unprecedented rate. With this incredible amount of users flocking to what a service that a business is providing, it’s easy for the buyer to feel like they’re being lost in the crowd. For many of us, our smart device is the first thing we glance at in the morning and the last thing we look at before turning off the lights. How does this affect us in 2015?

Product Discovery: Putting the Fun Back in Online Shopping!

Posted on 7/17/2015 by Dave Cavnar

We’ve all arrived in an unfamiliar town after a long trip and wanting to grab a bite to eat. It’s often tempting to just go with what you know: a familiar chain restaurant. The discovery of a new spot is often exhilarating and possibly even necessary.
